OSUN 2018: Why I Was Absent At Osun Governorship Debate – Ademola Adeleke

The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Osun governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has explained why he was absent at the 2018 Osun governorship debate which held in Osogbo, the state capital on Sunday.

Adeleke’s seat was empty throughout the two-hour debate.

He said he did not refuse to show up as widely believed but was “held up by the electorate in the places where he had gone to campaign on Sunday.”

Adeleke was one of the five candidates picked and invited for the debate which featured the All Progressive Congress candidate, Gboyega Oyetola; ADP candidate, Moshood Adeoti, ADC candidate, Fatai Akinbade and SDP candidate, Iyiola Omisore.

Speaking to newsmen on the phone on Sunday night, the publicity director of the Adeleke campaign organization, Olawale Rasheed, said while they were on their way to Osogbo, a community where they had gone to campaign blocked the highway.

He said they (community) had been marginalized all these years and that there had not been developments in their area.

“To our surprise, while we tried to skip the small towns and villages as we made efforts to meet up, they started trooping on the road; As I am talking to you now, we are just entering Osogbo,” Rasheed explained.

“We did the same thing at Ikirun, trying to avoid some villages, then we had a backlash from the voters, they insisted that they wanted to hear the man (Adeleke) personally speak to them.

“The last village that we attended at Ife East, they were complaining that they had had no light for years, they trooped to the road and blocked our path and this was around 7.30 p.m.

“What we did was to send a message to a correspondent of Channels, and later I sent a message to Seun Okinbaloye (Channels presenter). We are just entering Osogbo now as I speak to you.

“It is not that we are intent on not attending, no. We need to reach the voters and need their votes. And when they block the road and they say you can’t go, what do you do?”

He added that Adeleke made efforts to reach the people, “given the fact that reaching the people was fundamental in defeating an incumbent government.”

A member of MFM General Overseer "Dr. Dk Olukoya" said his pastor Dr Daniel Olukoya did not send him o Sowore For Any Reason

A member of MFM, Dr Aaron Akinloye, said his pastor Dr Daniel Olukoya did not send him to the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, for any reason.

In a recent video that has been circulating for some days now, Sowore was seen addressing a group of people with wrong information on a Maryland US lawsuit that has been won by MFM in a US court, further more claiming that the MFM general overseer sent someone to him for a meeting, as well as offered to bank roll his political ambition.

This is very far from the truth, Dr. Akinloye , who met with Sowore on other private matters, however, wondered how he would have been chosen for such an assignment when he was not in the position to deal with such matters according to his refuting words in an online platform Nairaland.

In his reply to Sowore’s on Nairaland between the 3rd and 5th of September he stated:-

“I Dr Aaron Akinloye have never said that the General Overseer sent me to you. You would recall that we were talking about UNILAG Alumni when you showed interest in the development of the school.

Please, be very careful with the way you spread unconfirmed news. Mr Sowore, let me ask you, on what capacity would the G.O have sent me to you? I am not his media person.

Please, be careful the way you are going about this.

To further exonerate himself from Mr Sowore’s allegation Dr Aaron warned him further:-

In fact, Sowore needs help. He needs plenty of prayers. Does he think he can sit down somewhere and begin to confuse the whole world? People that know him should call him to order. Somebody who said he was ready to confess his sins before the man of God. Sowore, we know your history while in Unilag anyways. I am not surprised. Why am I even disturbing myself over your cantankerous attitude?

According to Dr Akinloye, Sowore’s claims that Dr D.K Olukoya offering to finance his political campaign is a mere media stunt to get attention, stating that the G.O neither gets involved in politics nor does he know that Sowore even has political ambition.

“Sowore what is your problem? When did I tell you that the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries would like to finance your campaign? You must be out of your mind.

The man of God who doesn’t get involved in politics. Does he even know that you are contesting for anything? If you are looking for attention, you won’t get it.

I strongly advise you to desist from your antics, particularly the way you are dragging me into this mess. If you fail to desist from slandering my name, I will take a legal action against you”

In that same video, he further more deepened himself in a mud of quicksand by talking about the Maryland church case, which has already been won by the church with all evidence and document presented, of which Sowore did not do proper findings of facts before publishing on his Sahara platform all in effort to slander the image of the ministry and Dr Dk Olukoya

According to sources close to the General Overseer, Sowore was given a very long period of grace. He was warned to desist from publishing slanderous, malicious and unconfirmed stories against Dr. Olukoya and the ministry but all the warnings fell on deaf ears and this left the church no other option than to seek legal redress.

Police have arrested a suspect who succeeded in robbing some students of Adekunle Ajasin University of their valuables. He allegedly also raped two female students.

Luck, however, ran out on him in the early hours of Thursday at Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, after he again invaded a hostel, Divine Mercy hostel.

Upon being caught, he was severely beaten by students of the university before police carted him away.

2 Persons Arrested For Murder Of ABU Zaria Student (See Details)

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a student at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

The deceased, a 100-level student of veterinary medicine, was killed on Friday.

Circumstances surrounding his death is unclear as police launch investigation into the matter.

Niger Police Relations officer, Mukhtar Aliyu while confirming the death on Tuesday said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the death

“We have arrested two suspects over the killing of the ABU student.

“One was arrested on Sunday while another was arrested on Monday,” he said.

He added that the suspects had been questioned and would be charged to court after investigation.

Two Students Of FULAFIA Shot Dead By Suspected Herdsmen

Two students of the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, were last night shot dead by some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen. 

According to reports, Daniel, a student of the Department of Economics, was sitting by a well side when a stray bullet hit him. He was just cooling off because of the heat.

Terungwa Patrick Lough, a 400 level student of the English Department, was also shot at his house. Both students are said to be of Tiv extraction from Benue State.

The students of Ebonyi state University, ishieke campus are currently in a state of agony over complete one month of power outage.

According to reports gathered by our correspondent reveals that the electricity spoiled at a popular junction called ugwuachara which resulted to the total blackout.

A student called Emmanuel who is studying Business management has called on the relevant authority to repair the electricity as the students can’t read at night again because of the ugly situation which they are facing.

In his words.

” I want the Enugu electricity distribution company (EEDC) to come to our aid because we the students can’t read at night again, all we do at night is to walk from one shop to another looking for where to charge our reading lamps, phones, and laptops”.

Also, a visit by our correspondent to shops of those who collect money from the poor students in order for them to charge their phones, reading lamps, shows that they are happy over the ugly situation as they are currently making a lot of money because of the power outage.
