France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.70%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.


At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.70%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.76%.


The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which rose 4.83% or 7.65 points to trade at 165.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 3.99% or 4.20 points to end at 109.40 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 3.77% or 13.40 points to 369.10 in late trade.


The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 0.07% or 0.01 points to trade at 22.12 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 0.19% or 0.07 points to end at 40.60 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 0.19% or 0.03 points to 13.53.


The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PA:TCH) which rose 20.27% to 0.881, SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was up 6.48% to settle at 144.60 and Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AVMD) which gained 5.48% to close at 1270.00.


The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 0.17% to 17.290 in late trade, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which gained 0.07% to settle at 22.12 and Coface (PA:COFA) which was up 0.09% to 10.55 at the close.


Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 391 to 161 and 97 ended unchanged.


Shares in Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) rose to all time highs; up 4.83% or 7.65 to 165.95.


The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.87% to 16.31.


Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1515.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $55.89 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.35 to trade at $60.38 a barrel.


EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1104, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.9143.


The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 98.023.
