It’d be safe to say that almost anyone who’s stayed in a hotel or resort has at some point left with a little something from the room – be it some toiletries or slippers, or even just some fancy tea and coffee.
But you’ve got to wonder what was going through the mind of this family of tourists, who were caught red-handed trying to steal almost everything they could from a luxury villa in Bali (probably, let’s see how much stuff we can take and get away with).
In a video posted on Twitter, which has been viewed almost 400,000 times, hotel and security staff can be seen going through the family’s luggage as they’re departing for the airport, pulling out everything from coat hangers and soap dispensers to bath towels and even hair dryers.
Embarrassed and apologetic, the family then offer to pay for the items.
“It’s not about money,” the employee says.
“I know you have a lot of money. This is no respect. You come to Bali, you just steal; no respect.”
According to PerthNow, staff reported the incident to local police but no charges were reportedly laid.
“The guest acknowledged his mistake and apologised, returned the items taken and compensated for items that have not been found,” a police statement said.
